Colour Guru Jen - Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 16/08/2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Colour Guru Jen ("I", "me", "my") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you visit my website, book a service, or make a purchase. I am committed to handling your information carefully and in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
1. Who I am
Colour Guru Jen is a colour consultancy operated by Jen Mickelborough as a sole trader, based in Sheffield, United Kingdom. I am the data controller responsible for your personal information.
Contact: hello@colourgurujen.com
Correspondence address: 33 Vainor Road, Sheffield, S6 4AP
2. The information I collect
Depending on how you interact with me, I may collect:
Contact details — such as your name and email address, when you book a service, make a purchase, or get in touch.
Booking and purchase information — the service you have booked or bought, and related details needed to provide it.
Photographs and information you provide — for remote services such as the Partner Colour Snapshot, the photographs and information you send so that I can create the service. These may include images of another person where you are purchasing on their behalf.
Correspondence — the content of messages you send me by email or through the website.
I do not collect or store your payment card details (see section 5).
3. How I use your information
I use your information to:
provide the service you have booked or purchased;
communicate with you about your booking, including sending instructions and delivering your service;
respond to your enquiries;
keep records of purchases as required for accounting and tax purposes;
send you marketing emails, but only where you have agreed to receive them.
4. Legal bases
I rely on the following legal bases for processing your information:
Contract — to provide the service you have purchased.
Legal obligation — to keep financial records as required by law.
Consent — to send you marketing emails, which you can withdraw at any time.
Legitimate interests — to respond to enquiries and run my business, in a way that does not override your rights.
5. Payments
Payments are processed securely by Stripe. When you make a purchase, your card details are provided directly to Stripe and are not seen or stored by me. Stripe processes your payment information in accordance with its own privacy policy, available at stripe.com.
6. The tools I use
I use the following services to run my business, which may process your information on my behalf:
Systeme.io — my website, checkout and email platform, used to host my pages, take bookings and payments, and send booking-related and marketing emails.
Stripe — to process payments.
Google Drive — to store working files securely, including customer information and the photographs you provide for remote services.
These providers act as data processors and are required to keep your information secure.
7. Photographs
For remote services such as the Partner Colour Snapshot, the photographs you send are used only to create that service. They are stored securely and are not shared with anyone else or used for marketing.
I keep photographs only for as long as needed to provide the service and deal with any follow-up questions, and I delete them within 3 months of delivering your service unless you ask me to keep them for longer.
I will never use photographs of you or another person in any marketing or examples without asking for, and receiving, your explicit consent first.
8. Marketing
I will only send you marketing emails if you have agreed to receive them. Every marketing email includes a link to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time. Opting out of marketing will not affect emails I need to send you about a service you have purchased.
9. How long I keep your information
I keep your information only for as long as necessary:
Photographs — deleted within 3 months of delivering your service, unless you ask otherwise.
Purchase and financial records — kept for as long as required by law (currently six years for tax purposes).
Contact and marketing details — kept until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove them.
10. Sharing your information
I do not sell your information to anyone. I only share it with the service providers listed in section 6, where necessary to run my business, and where I am legally required to do so.
11. Data storage and security
I take reasonable steps to keep your information secure, including using reputable providers, password-protected accounts and devices, and limiting access to your information to myself. While no online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure, I take care to protect your information.
12. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
access the personal information I hold about you;
ask me to correct information that is inaccurate;
ask me to delete your information, where there is no legal reason to keep it;
object to or restrict how I use your information;
withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact me at hello@colourgurujen.com. I will respond within one month.
13. Complaints
If you have a concern about how I handle your information, please contact me first and I will do my best to resolve it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection, at ico.org.uk.
14. Changes to this policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The version published on my website is the current version, and I will update the date at the top when changes are made.
15. Contact
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how I handle your information, please contact me at hello@colourgurujen.com.
